Genaral Motors India kicked up competition in the sedan segment by driving in
Cruze at an aggresive entry price of
Rs. 10.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), placing the model below competitors like Honda Civic, Toyota Altis, Skoda Laura and Volkswagen Jetta. The Cruze, that comes in two variants, sports a 2 litre diesel engine and the company plans to introduce a petrol as well as an automatic version after sometimes.

The pricing of the
Cruze indicates GM's aggresive stance, especially as the company attempts to strengthen its branding in India and move away from the negative impact of bankruptcy and restructuring its parent in US.
The segment in which
Cruze has been launched commands monthly sale of around 4000 units and GM's marketing head Ankush Arora said it has been growing at a little over 10%. The company expects sell of 800-1000units of Cruze monthly in beginning before the number stabilizes around 600 units, Arora added.
