Mahindra Launches new Mini Truck : Gio

Mahinra & Mahindra has launched its new light commercial vehicle "Gio" last Wednesday. The price of Gio is Rs. 1.65 lakhs and the company claims it to be the cheapest mini truck in India.

General Motors cruises in with CRUZE

Genaral Motors India kicked up competition in the sedan segment by driving in Cruze at an aggresive entry price of Rs. 10.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), placing the model below competitors like Honda Civic, Toyota Altis, Skoda Laura and Volkswagen Jetta. The Cruze, that comes in two variants, sports a 2 litre diesel engine and the company plans to introduce a petrol as well as an automatic version after sometimes.The pricing of the Cruze indicates GM's aggresive stance, especially as the company attempts to strengthen its branding in India and move away from the negative impact of bankruptcy and restructuring its parent in US.

The segment in which Cruze has been launched commands monthly sale of around 4000 units and GM's marketing head Ankush Arora said it has been growing at a little over 10%. The company expects sell of 800-1000units of Cruze monthly in beginning before the number stabilizes around 600 units, Arora added.

BMW debuts sports car Z4 in India

German luxury carmaker BMW on monday launched sports car the "BMW Z4" in India, which has been priced at Rs. 59 Lakh. The company aims to sell about 30-40 units in the next three months.
For the current year, BMW aims to sell over 3000 units. Till September, the firm has sold 2738 units, BMW India president Peter Kronschnabl said. In 2008, the luxury carmaker has sold 2908 units in India. Kronschnabl added that BMW was trying to strengthen its position in Indian luxury car segment.
